Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has approved the Bhu Bharati Act (ROR Act–2024) and the government will bring the Act into force as soon as possible, Revenue, Housing and Information and PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. The government will provide effective revenue services from now on, he added.
Ponguleti asked officials to implement the historic Bhu Bharati Act cleared by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma as soon as possible. He said the Bhu Bharati Act is being introduced to provide comprehensive revenue services to Telangana’s people.
“On behalf of the government, I extend special thanks to the Governor for approving the Bhu Bharati Act to provide a permanent solution to land problems. On behalf of landowners, I would like to express my special thanks to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who has provided all possible assistance to introduce this law, to all my fellow Cabinet members, public representatives, officers and staff who worked day and night, as well as to the intellectuals who gave many suggestions to enact this law. Thanks to everyone behind this law,” he said.
He said the Bhu Bharati Act was introduced by consolidating public opinion and its main objective is to serve commoners. Officials were told to pay special attention to formulating the procedures connected to this law, he said.
A copy of the Bhu Bharati Bill, approved by the Governor, was handed over to the Minister by Naveen Mittal, the Principal Secretary of Revenue at the Secretariat on Thursday.
Ponguleti said that due to the Revenue Act–2020 commoners were facing many problems in Telangana. “Even three years after the passing of the Act, rules were not framed and as a result there is no village in Telangana without land disputes. The BRS government had completely destroyed the revenue system for its own selfish interests,” he said.
He said the Congress government had initiated extensive steps to provide revenue services, which were confined to a few people during BRS rule. A Revenue Officer is going to be appointed for every revenue village to look after revenue administration, he said.
Ponguleti said the Indiramma government is working as the people want. The Revenue Department should work in accordance with the government’s ideas and the government’s intention is to bring the revenue system closer to the people. The people are at the centre of the government’s decisions. Keeping that in mind, the Revenue Department should try to keep common people happy, he said.
