Guv didn’t attend secretariat inauguration as she wasn’t invited

Did the BRS government invite the Governor, Dr Tamilisai Sounderarajan, for the inauguration of the secretariat?

This question arose as Electricity Minister Jagdeesh Reddy criticised the Governor for not attending the inauguration of the new secretariat.

The Raj Bhavan released a statement on Tuesday saying that the Governor did not attend the inauguration function as she did not get any invitation from the government. The Raj Bhavan said that the allegations made by Jagdeesh Reddy were totally baseless and false.

The Raj Bhavan, in a statement on Tuesday, vehemently denied the baseless allegation that an invitation was sent to the Governor, Dr Tamilisai Sounderarajan, for the inauguration of the secretariat by the government and that in spite of the invitation the Governor didn’t attend the programme.

The Raj Bhavan made it clear that no invitation was sent to the Governor inviting her to the inauguration of the new secretariat, and this is the sole reason for her non-attendance at the inauguration of the secretariat.

Electricity Minister G. Jagdeesh Reddy criticised the Governor on Monday saying that attending or not attending the inauguration of the secretariat is left to the Governor’s wisdom. However, the Governor’s true colours came out with her absence at the inauguration of the secretariat, Jagdeesh said.

The Minister said that those who oppose progress are unable to bear the development taking place in Telangana. He said that the Governor’s absence at the inauguration of the secretariat was part of it.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat built by the state government. Ministers, MLAs, MPs and other ruling party representatives attended the programme organized by KCR.

Governor Tamilisai and opposition leaders were absent. The inauguration function of the Secretariat was organised by the government in a grand manner. But some opposition leaders said that the government did not follow protocol in inviting opposition MLAs, MPs and other public representatives and so they stayed away.

Meanwhile, the Raj Bhavan made it clear that the Governor did not get any invitation from the government.
