Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Monday advised an Andhra Pradesh Minister to wage a united fight to secure Special Category Status (SCS) for their State and stop the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).
Speaking at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) ‘Atmeeya Sammlenam’ here , the Minister rebutted the criticism that he had made any negative comment on the people of Andhra Pradesh. “Some people are raging with anger,” he pointed out.
Harish Rao made it clear that he was speaking on behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He threw an open challenge to Andhra Pradesh Minister to complete the Polavaram project and ensure water to the people in the State. He sought to remind the Andhra Pradesh Minister that the Telangana government had completed the Kaleshwaram project in the shortest period of time.
Reiterating that the paddy crop was cultivated in 56 lakh acres this summer, Harish Rao said round-the-clock power supply, ‘Rythu Bandhu’, ‘Rythu Bheema’, ‘KCR Kits’, ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’ and several welfare schemes were being implemented successfully in Telangana. He said he would always fight for the rights of people not only in Telangana but also in Andhra Pradesh.
