HELP director calls for awareness on HIV/AIDS

HELP project director B V Sagar emphasized the need of creating awareness among people on how to protect from HIV/AIDS. HELP and District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit of Bapatla district of APSACS jointly organised essay writing competitions for the children in St. Arnold’s school at Medarametla on the occasion of World AIDS Day on role of youth in prevention of AIDS in India.

In the meeting followed by the competitions, Sagar said that all should show equality and love on victims of HIV/AIDS instead of stigmatising and discriminating them in the society. If anyone wishes to access or facilitate required services to those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, they can dial 1097 toll-free numbers at the helping centre which is organised by AP State AIDS Control Society.

Mr. SK. Ahmad, ASI of Medarametla police station stated that it is the responsibility of one and all to inculcate a sense of mental strength among those infected and affected with HIV/AIDS that enable them to cope up with the challenges they face but, they should not be discriminated against. Fr. Das, principal for St. Arnold’s School exhorted the students to excel in education and become good citizens. Shobharani, Manager – HELP TI programme advised the students to get rid of the bad habits which ruin their life.
