HSL inks MoU with Indian Maritime University to enhance shipbuilding skills

Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL) and Indian Maritime University (IMU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve shipbuilding skills and support capacity building. The agreement, formalised in the presence of Dr Malini V Shankar, Vice Chancellor of IMU, aims to drive innovation in ship design and technology.
Dr Malini V Shankar praised HSL’s efforts to meet the goals of Maritime India Vision 2030. “This partnership highlights our shared vision to advance India’s maritime sector. The collaboration between academia and industry is essential for fostering innovation and excellence,” she said.
Cmde Hemant Khatri, CMD of HSL, emphasised the shipyard’s commitment to innovation. “At HSL, we are focused on exploring advanced solutions in ship design and technology for a range of platforms. This partnership with IMU will enhance our capabilities and support the nation’s broader maritime vision.”
Additionally, Dr Shankar met with HSL’s women executives, encouraging them to develop their skills and take on leadership roles. She stressed the importance of balancing work and personal life while pursuing professional excellence. The collaboration between HSL and IMU is a significant step towards strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure and fostering innovation in the shipbuilding sector.
