Hundreds of schoolkids take part in 2K run

A run was organised by GIG International School on Sunday morning on the eve of Children’s Day. Hundreds of school children along with their parents joined the ‘My heart – My family’ run.

The 2K Run was flagged off at the Ayush Hospital road in Vijayawada by noted environmental activist, Prof Ajay Katragadda accomplished by marathon runner & eco group. He congratulated the school management for pulling off the event at short notice in style but warned of hills & heaps of single-use plastic waste generated from food & drink use at a such grand gala public events. Speaking from a decade of experience in organising zero residue run & swim events, Prof Ajay made future citizens aware of the plastic menace.

GIG School principal Srikanth, AO Meenakshi welcomed the gathering, where the senior manager of medical partner, Rainbow Hospitals & Professor of Paediatrics Dr. Abdul Rehman spoke on the occasion. Hundreds of AWARA members, swimmers, volunteers & their children participated in the run.
