Salman Khan-starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan marks the debut of another budding actress, Vinali Bhatnagar. Over an exclusive chat with The Pioneer, our newbie takes us through bagging the role in the film and more.
Vinali Bhatnagar was so happy shooting for Salman Khan starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan—it looks like the debutant isn’t really perturbed by the trolls surrounding her latest film’s release.
Just like her film, one thing that you can always expect from the actress is to keep her interviews also refreshing. So, not sticking to the usual stock answers that most stars these days do, she tells us exactly what’s on her mind. “The shooting and casting schedule was a really long process for me. It all started when my portfolio got shortlisted and I was called for a meeting. Post that, they decided to audition me, and, believe me, I had to audition within half an hour. There was no time for me to absorb the nervous energy. After I posted my auditions, I couldn’t stop looking at my phone! After a few rounds of meetings, I was called to meet the director, and that’s when I heard the narration for the first time. The confirmation came in when my tickets for Hyderabad arrived, the film city over there was waiting for me.”
Trying to make sense of it all, there’s something more about the release, and she spills the beans: “Everything was new for me, being my first movie. A debutant actress working in a Salman Khan movie is more than you can ask for! My first meeting with him made me feel so numb, so unreal. I was deliriously happy; my emotions were flowing.”
What happens after a movie with Salman Khan then? “I am a newcomer; I need more room to show my acting chops. There are a variety of roles to explore! Like any other kid, even my exposure to cinema was invented through a television box or cinema. Coming to the big screen is like a fantasy for most of us actors.”
Again, there is no godfather in the industry, so “I had no idea whether my parents would allow me to act or not. I was a young child. Gradually, I started to convince my parents. And then there was no turning back.”
So, it’s immediately relatable when the star says what she liked most about her character, which is how human she is. The superstar Salman hasn’t been seen as the main lead in a theatrical release for three years and four months. With expectations being reset given the current theatrical situation, even for the supporting characters that he is bringing along, it would be good if their newest release surpasses that milestone.
