Institute of Indo-Pacific Studies and Human Capital Development opened at OU

Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof D Ravinder launched a new Institute of Indo-Pacific Studies and Human Capital Development Centre in Osmania University. He has granted a Departmental Assistance of Rs 23 lakh to be utilised by 52 departments for institution and research developments.

Osmania University celebrated its 106th Foundation Day with a three-day fest, Osmania Taksh 2023, which concluded on a grand scale at the Tagore Auditorium. The fest witnessed an overwhelming response with an audience more than the capacity of the auditorium. Students, research scholars, members of non-teaching staff, representatives from NGOs, technical and employee unions, directors, deans, principals, heads from various departments and alumni attended the event.

During the event, VC Prof Ravinder made an elaborate presentation on the achievements of Osmania University in recent years. He said that OU was in the forefront of automation and a TV channel exclusive to Osmania was made available to benefit all stakeholders.

The chief guest for the Foundation Day celebrations was Wg Cdr (Wing Commander) Rakesh Sharma, AC (Retd), Research Cosmonaut, while the guests of honour were Prof E Suresh Kumar, Commission Member, UGC, and Vice-Chancellor, EFLU, Hyderabad. The event was coordinated by Prof P Laxminarayana, Registrar, OU & Prof G Mallesham, Dean, Development and UGC Affairs.

Wg Cdr Rakesh Sharma made a presentation of the arduous journey in the life of an astronaut and how a rigorous training regime prepares them for the challenges of being away from the earth.

On this occasion, an APP “OUInfra ‘ON’ Track” was launched by Rakesh Sharma, which was coordinated by Prof P Naveen Kumar, a professor from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering & Director Infrastructure, Osmania University, and alumni members.

Later, a grand gala cultural event was organised in the post-lunch session, and Siddula Ashok Teja, renowned poet & lyricist, was the chief guest for cultural events. Prof JB Nadda, Director, CEC, was the guest of honour for the event. Prof B. Rajender Naik, Dean, Students Affairs and his team coordinated the cultural events.
