Lashing out at the BRS for criticising the Centre for allegedly trying to curb the freedom of the press, Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy said that it was KCR who had said that he will bury the media.
He made it clear that the BJP need not learn any lesson from the Kalvakuntla family on press freedom. He also made it clear that there is no political need for the BJP to stage I-T raids on the BBC.
Kishan said that it is ridiculous that leaders who banned media organizations are speaking about free speech now.
He said that the Kalvakuntla family, who threatened to ban media organizations saying that they were writing against them, do not need to teach them about press freedom.
Speaking to the media after a programme organized by the Department of Tourism in Delhi on Thursday, Kishan said that Telangana people knew very well about the attitude of the Kalvakuntla family, who violated the freedom of the press and how the KCR family deals with the media.
Making it clear that the Centre is not attacking media organizations, Kishan said that the BRS has the habit of attacking the media and that attacks on the media are regular for BRS leaders.
He said that BRS leaders were making meaningless comments on I-T raids on BBC offices.
It is ridiculous that the KCR family is speaking about democratic values and freedom of the press, Kishan said.
