Minister for Finance and Health T Harish Rao described the Income Tax ride on the BBC office as “atrocious and brazen.” Such action by the BJP-led government would tarnish the country’s image, he pointed out.
“The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a reputed broadcaster,” Harish Rao asserted while speaking at a meeting at Yadagrigutta on Thursday. The raids were conducted after the BBC released a documentary critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at the Bharat Rashtra Samith party workers meeting at Yadagirigutta in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, Harish Rao said Telangana has emerged as the third-best State in Niti Aayog’s fourth Health Index. Uttar Pradesh figured at the bottom of 19 large State health index.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has given top priority to the health sector. It helped achieve impressive results in improving healthcare in the State. The State government is committed to providing quality healthcare to all sections of people. As many as eight medical colleges were established last year and nine more would be set up this year, he said. Telangana State tops the country with 19 medical seats per one lakh population, he observed.
As the State government issued a notification for 81,000 government jobs, BJP State unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar became very nervous. The BJP was worried as the cadre was deserting the party, he said. Instead of expressing happiness over the State government striving to provide more jobs for the youth, the BJP leaders were showing signs of fear. He accused the BJP of conspiring to gain political mileage by provoking the youth. Such tactics cannot succeed in Telangana, he warned.
People in Telangana wanted renovation of temples, development and irrigation projects, besides medical colleges. The BRS government was making rapid progress in fulfilling the aspiration of the people. The government was buying power by spending Rs 40 to Rs 50 crore. The government was paying for power at the rate of Rs 25 to Rs 30 per unit. But, the government was not charging even Re 1 from the farmers, he said.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a 100-bed hospital. Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Government Whip G Sunita, and Oil Fed chairman Kancherla Ramakrishna Reddy were present.
