The Congress said that it will announce its candidates as soon as possible this time unlike in 2018. However, the BRS is going to show its mark by announcing the first list of candidates much before the Congress and the BJP.

KCR’s strategy is to attack opponents much before they wake up. This time too, the opposition, the Congress and the BJP, have not yet woke up and announced their candidates although the opposition parties, particularly the Congress, are stating that the election schedule will come only in the last week of September or the first week of October. But the Congress has not prepared any candidate list so far and it started the process to select candidates on August 18.

The BRS supremo, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, is likely to release the list of candidates on August 21, that is, Monday, at the Telangana Bhavan between 12.03 pm and 12.30 pm. The first Monday of Sravana Masam has an auspicious 27 minutes, it is learnt.

It is learnt that KCR will announce candidates for controversial constituencies like Jangaon, Station Ghanpur, Kodad, Nagarjuna Sagar, Munugode, Jagtial and other constituencies in the second list.

The Congress failed to follow TPCC Star Campaigner Bhoingir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s advice that the party must announce candidates in non-controversial constituencies six months before elections.

He had stressed the need to announce the list much before the elections. However, the Congress started the process of accepting applications only on August 18 and that will end on August 25.

Congress sources said the party will announce its first list in September after the completion of the process.

The BJP has not yet revealed anything about its candidates’ list but it is carrying out some process to select candidates.

However, a political analyst said that the Congress and the BJP might be waiting strategically to see the BRS list. He said that both the Congress and the BJP expect defections from the BRS after the announcement of its first list to induct them into their parties. He said that it is nothing but a challenge posed by BRS supremo KCR to his opponents.

The announcement of candidates before others definitely gives an advantage, he added.
