“We are going to ask the Congress government to implement the promises made by the Congress to Backward Class communities. We have planned a meeting on Friday at the Indira Park in Hyderabad. We will ask the government to fulfil the promises it made to Backward Class communities,” BRS leader Kavitha said.
Koneru Suresh Kumar, the Telangana State Youth President of the Pusala Sangham, has called a massive rally of Backward Classes (BCs) at Indira Park on January 3, marking the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule.
The event, titled Chalo Hyderabad – BCs’ Garjana, aims to highlight the betrayal of weaker sections by the Congress government under the guise of the BC Declaration.
Addressing the press, Suresh urged leaders of BC castes and associations to participate in the rally and make it a resounding success.
He demanded the establishment of a special corporation for the Pusala community, and loans of Rs 5 lakh to every member without conditions. He also called for the construction of BC Bhavans in all district headquarters towns.
Accusing the Congress of failing to deliver on its promises, he reminded attendees of the assurance given in the Kamareddy BC Declaration by Congress leaders, in the presence of Siddaramaiah, to provide 42% reservations for BCs in local bodies.
“Within six months of coming to power, the Congress promised BC caste enumeration but has only passed an Assembly resolution with no further action. The BC Commission has remained silent on this matter, and the BC Sub-Plan is nowhere to be seen,” he said.
Suresh emphasized that there are no significant legal obstacles to increasing BC reservations to 42% in local bodies, citing Telangana’s comprehensive family survey, which found BCs constitute 54% of the state’s population.
He demanded that the government issue an ordinance to increase reservations immediately and consider elections only after implementing the Kamareddy Declaration.
He warned of large scale protests if the government fails to act on these demands. “We must remain vigilant against Congress’s deceptive guarantees, as they have already betrayed the BCs of Telangana. This rally is our collective voice against their failures,” he added.
The rally is expected to draw thousands of BC community members who will demand accountability from the Congress government.
