Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended heartfelt congratulations to Telangana’s para-athlete and Warangal resident, Deepthi Jeevanji, on being conferred the Arjuna Award for 2024. Deepthi secured a bronze medal for India in the 400-meter race at the Paralympics. As part of the state’s sports policy to encourage athletes who represent India in national and international events, the Chief Minister had earlier presented Deepthi with Rs 1 crore and her coach, Nagapuri Ramesh, with Rs 10 lakh. The state government had also given a Group-2 level government job and 500 square yards of land in Warangal for Deepthi in recognition of her achievements. Revanth reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing talent through initiatives like the Young India Sports University and the establishment of sports complexes across the state.
“This will help Telangana’s athletes excel and bring laurels to the state,” he said.
The Chief Minister also congratulated other sports personalities recognized with prestigious awards in 2024.
He hailed D Gukesh (Chess), Harmanpreet Kaur (Hockey), Praveen Kumar (Para Athletics), and Manu Bhaker (Shooting) for receiving the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
He also conveyed his appreciation to all athletes and coaches chosen for the Arjuna and Dronacharya Awards this year for their outstanding contributions to Indian sports.
