Must read

Amidst a cyberattack launched by right-wing forces against actor Mammootty, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal stepped up to defend the legendary superstar, emphasising that Kerala’s bond with him remains unshakeable. “Mammootty has long been regarded as a pillar of Malayalam cinema, elevating it to unprecedented heights over the past five decades through his unwavering dedication. Those familiar with him understand the caliber of his character. We strongly condemn the unwarranted cyber assault on this esteemed actor,” stated Venugopal. The veteran actor has recently faced criticism regarding his 2022 film Puzhu, which some perceive as anti-Brahmanical. “Every Keralite is well aware of Mammootty’s legacy, identity, and principles. His conduct has consistently exemplified dignity. Therefore, any attempt to sow discord will undoubtedly falter. Keralites stand resolutely beside him,” Venugopal reaffirmed. At 72 years old, Mammootty continues to enjoy a string of successful films, solidifying his status as Kerala’s foremost icon.
