Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Bhatti Vikramarka said that it’s time to remove the KCR government which is grabbing the lands of the poor.
Addressing a press conference at Badangpet in Maheshwaram constituency on Tuesday, the CLP leader said that the BRS government has been systematically grabbing lands given to the poor by Congress governments.
The BRS which came to power by promising double-bedroom houses and three acres for Dalits not only failed to keep its promises but is also forcibly seizing lands distributed to the poor by the earlier governments, Bhatti said.
A dreadful situation is prevailing as the BRS government is unleashing violence to suppress the poor, he said.
If people question injustice, they are being slapped with false cases. If anyone confronts the government they are being arrested. Houses constructed by the poor on sites given to them by earlier governments are being demolished. People are subjected to State violence and terror in the heart of the state capital, he said.
In the Telangana State achieved by the people through several sacrifices, the BRS government is resorting to violence stealthily, Bhatti said.
Earlier civil society organisations, people’s organisations and political parties with social responsibility used to lend support to the poor and weaker sections against State violence and injustice. He said that no one is now raising their voice even when the lands of the poor are being grabbed.
Declaring that the BRS government has no right to take away lands given to the poor by the previous governments, Bhatti said that the action exposed the evil intention of the government to not let people live with dignity.
Bhatti called upon intellectuals to realise that the time has come to raise their voice against the abuse of human rights and State violence. The KCR government grabbed about 10,000 acres worth Rs 5000 billion in the Ibrahimpatnam constituency alone. It also took away lands of the poor around Hyderabad worth Rs 25,000 billion.
“This is the biggest conspiracy being perpetrated against the poor,” the Congress leader said. The lands seized from the poor are being given to companies owned by the rich and for auction to create HMDA layouts, he said.
Bhatti said that in Maheshwaram mandal, the BRS government not only took back 500 acres from the poor for the Pharma city but also kept another 400 acres in the buffer zone. Who gave the right to this government to seize 1,000 acres given to the poor? he asked.
People should be allowed to cultivate the lands taken away by the government. The official machinery, courts of law, media, and political parties with social responsibility should help people protesting against the exploitation by the State, he said.
Balladeer Gaddar said that Chief Minister KCR introduced the Dharani Portal to grab the lands of the SCs, STs, BCs and other downtrodden sections which they were cultivating for the last 200 years.
KCR rule has become synonymous with building demolitions, and collecting commissions to buy votes during elections, he said.
