KCR hails Basaveshwara; greets Veerashaiva Lingayats, Linga Balijas

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao greeted Veerashaiva Lingayats and the Linga Balija community on the occasion of the birth anniversary of social and spiritual revolutionary Basaveshwara.

KCR remembered the services of Basaveshwara, who worked to bring about equality in society.

The Chief Minister hailed Basaveshwara as a social visionary, who not only reformed religious values and fought against social evils. He was a social visionary who fought for a society free of prejudices based on colour, caste and gender almost 900 years ago, the CM added.

The CM said that Basaveshwara established the ‘Anubhava Mantap’ system and all castes were represented in it. The seeds of parliamentary democracy were sown in those days by the visionary leader.

KCR said that the state government is formally celebrating Basaveshwara’s birth anniversary every year and is also trying to fulfil his values.

The Chief Minister said that Basaveshwara’s bronze statue has been installed on Tank Bund to inspire future generations.

The CM said the government also allocated Rs 10 crore for the construction of a Basava Bhavan in the Kokapet area in Hyderabad. KCR said that the government will pursue Basaveshwara’s philosophy of equality regardless of caste and religion.

KCR made it clear that he will follow Basaveshwara’s ideals by ensuring the welfare of Dalits, Backward Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women.
