KCR to embark on tour of districts

It seems that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is getting into election mode. KCR’s recent decisions clearly indicate this. KCR has speeded up his political and official business. He has directed TRS MLAs to go to the people and solve their problems. He has also directed them to campaign extensively about the welfare measures implemented by the government.

At the same time, KCR too has decided to go to the people. He has decided to organise public meetings and wants to go to all districts to address meetings. KCR’s district tours will start in December. At the official level, KCR is conducting a Collectors’ conference on November 28 and has decided to hold a brief Assembly session in December.

KCR is also planning to inaugurate government buildings and TRS office buildings during his district tours. He is mixing official and political business during his tours. The CM is very much confident about the victory of the TRS in the next Telangana Assembly elections.

The CM’s decision on the alleged attempt to poach TRS MLAs has enhanced his image at the national level. There are allegations from Congress leaders that the TRS and the BJP are colluding with each other. But the CM’s decision on the attempted poaching of TRS MLAs has cleared all doubts about this.

A senior TRS leader said that if the TRS and the BJP are colluding with each other as alleged by the Congress how can the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the TS government on the poaching case issue a notice to BL Santosh who is the BJP’s top leader. This shows the commitment of KCR to fight the BJP, the TRS leader said. Moreover, KCR’s decision to fight the BJP has helped the TRS to get close to the Left. If the TRS is colluding with the BJP the Left will never support them, commented a TRS leader.

Meanwhile, the BJP leadership also has a strong hope of coming to power in Telangana in the next Assembly elections. The comments of a top BJP leader and that of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday at a conference indicate this.

Amit Shah said that the people of Telangana want a change and that he knows the pulse of Telangana. He said that he will tour Telangana until the BJP comes to power in the next elections.

Amit Shah also said that the BJP victory in Telangana in the next Assembly elections will be the BJP’s gateway to enter south India. In spite of the attempt to poach TRS MLAs allegedly by the BJP, the comments of Amit Shah have created interest.

The BJP leadership realised after the Munugode by-election that their party can come to power in Telangana only if they weaken the Congress. If the Congress is strong it may not come to power but it will help the TRS to retain power.

Keeping this in view the BJP leadership is concentrating on Congress leaders to bring them into their party. Former Minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy recently resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP. In coming days some more prominent Congress leaders may join the BJP.

The infighting in the Congress is helping the BJP to easily attract Congress leaders. The present political situation and the fight between the TRS and the BJP have given the impression that the main fight will be between the TRS and the Congress in the next Assembly elections. This also helps the BJP to attract Congress leaders into their party.

In the fight between the TRS and the BJP, the Congress is gradually losing ground in Telangana. Union Home Minister Amit Shah may tour TS districts extensively to counter KCR’s district visits.
