TDP refuses BJP’s proposal to field former Union Minister Sujana Chowdary

The seat-sharing agreement between the Opposition parties, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party (JSP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been finalised. As a result, the line was cleared for the TDP senior leader Kesineni Sivanath, alias Chinni, to contest from the Vijayawada Parliament constituency in the upcoming elections.
He will have the support of the BJP and JSP.
Though former union minister Sujana Chowdary wanted to contest from Vijayawada, TDP refused to sacrifice this segment to the BJP. TDP had a stronghold in the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency and the party leadership is not ready to leave the seat to BJP.
Also, the TDP leader Kesineni Chinni was planning to contest from this seat.
The Machilipatnam seat was already allotted to its ally JSP. So, TDP is not ready to leave the second Lok Sabha segment in the erstwhile Krishna district. Until the last minute, the BJP leadership tried to get the Vijayawada seat for Sujana Chowdary. However, during the talks, TDP leadership did not accept the proposal.
On the other hand, BJP accepted six MP seats – Araku, Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Rajamahendravaram, Narasapuram, and Tirupati. Besides, Machilipatnam and Kakinada seats were allocated to JSP.
After the successful completion of the discussions among TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, JSP chief Pawan Kalyan and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, these three parties have come to a consensus. As per the agreement, TDP will field candidates in 17 seats, while BJP will contest from six and JSP from two segments.
Kesineni Chinni is all set to fight his brother and sitting MP Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani. As Kesineni Chinni entered Vijayawada politics, he had disputes with his brother Nani. As a result, Nani quit the party and joined YSRCP.
