Union Minister flagged off the inaugural Dharmavaram-Machilipatnam Service from Platform No 1 of Vijayawada Railway Station on Tuesday.

G Kishan Reddy said that Railways play a key role in the transportation of public and freight, by connecting hinterlands and every nook & corner of the Country. He thanked the Central government for the record allocation of Rs 8406 Crore to the State of Andhra Pradesh in the 2023-24 Budget and introducing Vande Bharat Express between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam on the eve of Sankranthi for the people of twin Telugu States.

V Balashowry, MP, Lok Sabha thanked the Union Minister and Centre for extending Dharmavaram-Vijayawada Express up to Machilipatnam. He also appealed to the Union Minister and Central Government to introduce a new Train from Machilipatnam to Tirupati to cater to the needs of Coastal District people and develop Tenali–Machilipatnam Railway Line segment.

R Bhagyalakshmi, Mayor, Vijayawada expressed her happiness and thanked the Centre and Railway Minister on behalf of the people of AP for providing extension and connectivity to Rayalaseema.

Public representatives, Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, V Balashowry, MP, Lok Sabha; R Bhagyalakshmi, Mayor, Vijayawada; Somu Veeraju, President, BJP, Andhra Pradesh; M Srikanth, ADRM, Operations; D Srinivasa Rao, ADRM, Infrastructure and other were present. ‘People of AP have great history’

At another programme in the city, Kishan Reddy said that the people of Andhra Pradesh have great intangible, incredible history and culture. He also said more than 1,500 antiquities that are displayed in the seven galleries are a source of knowledge, pleasure, and inspiration. Kishan Reddy said, “It is a privilege for me to be at the Bapu Museum for recollecting glimpses of our past. People without knowledge of their history, origin, culture, and heritage are like trees without roots.

The statue of Pingali Venkaiah was honored and garlanded on the premises of the Bapu Museum by the minister. The sculpture scene of the Pingali Venkaiah designed the National Flag and handed it over to Mahatma Gandhi in the presence of Motilal Nehru, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Lala Lajpat Rai, Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, etc in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting in 1921 is displayed at the museum.

Kishan Reddy appreciated Dr. C Vani Mohan, Commissioner of the State Department of Archeology and Exhibitions for developing the Bapu Museum with international standards to reflect the incredible cultural heritage of Telugu people, who are proud of cultural heritage and unity in diversity.
