Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has dismissed the allegations levelled by BRS leader Harish Rao regarding the Godavari–Banakacherla Link Scheme. Addressing the media at the Secretariat, Uttam accused Harish of fabricating claims and misleading the public about the status of the proposed project by Andhra Padesh.
He clarified that the project, submitted by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to the Centre, is still at the proposal stage, with no approvals or groundwork initiated. “Not a single drop of water has been diverted from the Godavari to Andhra Pradesh. Harish is creating imaginary situations to mislead people,” he asserted.
Uttam outlined the Telangana government’s proactive measures to counter Andhra Pradesh’s plans.
Letters have been sent to Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urging them to withhold financial and regulatory support for the Rs 80,112 crore project.
