Minister volunteers playing vital role in implementing welfare schemes

Minister for Health Vidadala Rajini lauded the services of village and ward volunteers stating that they are playing a significant role in implementing various welfare schemes.
The Minister participated in the ‘Volunteer Ku Vondanam’ programme, organized in the auditorium on the campus of medical college here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has set up the volunteer system to ensure the efficient implementation of welfare schemes at the ground level.
She described the volunteers as a bridge between the government and the people, adding that the role of volunteers is very important in reaching the welfare and development programmes of the government to the people.
Recognizing their services, the government is giving them awards. The volunteer system is the brainchild of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, she said. “The Volunteer system which existed in AP has become a debatable issue in the country. Several teams came from various states to AP to study the functioning of the volunteer system,” she stated.
The people of the state witnessed the atrocities of Janmabhoomi committees during the erstwhile TDP regime. Unlike the Janmabhoomi committees, the volunteers in the present regime go to every house and extend needed services with a smiling face, she extolled.
When they went to the people during the ‘Gadapa Gadapaku’ programme, people praised the services of volunteers, the Health Minister claimed, adding that the government feels proud of volunteers.
“As many as 1597 volunteers in the Guntur West constituency were given awards for their efficient services of which five were given Seva Vajra award, 18 were given Seva Ratna award and 1574 were given Seva Mitra awards,” the minister said.
Mayor K Manohar Naidu the government has recognized the voluble services of volunteers and honored them. MLC Chandragiri Yesuratnam said that the volunteers visit every household and help the eligible poor in getting the benefits of welfare schemes. MLA Maddali Giridhar Rao also spoke.
Differently-abled corporation chairperson Mumtaz Pathan, deputy mayor Bala Vajrababu, social welfare board director G Jhansy, deputy commissioner Venkata Krishnaiah and other leaders were present.
