Another case of police negligence has come out from the parents of a minor girl who went missing and was found dead the next day. A 10-year-old girl who went missing from a government school at Dammaiguda in Jawaharnagar on Thursday was found dead in a nearby lake on Friday. The child, Indu, was dropped at school by her father in the morning.

However, later she asked her friends to come along with her out of school but as they refused she left her bag and tiffin box in the classroom and left school alone. As the girl was not found by her parents they filed a complaint with the police. The SHO of Jawaharnagar, Chandra Shekar, disagreed with the claims of the parents and said the parents dialled 100 and our team reached their home immediately.

“The claims were made not by the parents but by local politicians and relatives. The parents dialled 100 on Thursday night and our team reached their house immediately.
We began searches in and around her house and school. Later, from CCTV footage we identified the routes and found the girl was walking towards a certain area. As the girl is a minor we could not share details,” the SHO said.

A missing case was registered and 30 teams were with the parents on the field. There was a dog squad also and our team near the lake saw the floating body on Friday morning, he added. Although the police have not informed them about the post-mortem report, it was found out that the report indicated that the girl died due to water entering her lungs. The body of the child was handed over to her parents. However, tension prevailed in the area as locals staged a protest and damaged a police vehicle. They said the delay in conducting the search by the police resulted in the girl’s death.
