Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for 21 Amrit Bharat Stations across Telangana. The railway stations will be developed at a cost of Rs 894 crore. The Prime Minister launched the scheme through virtual mode.
The redevelopment works of 508 railway stations at a cost of over Rs 24,470 crore across India began. Of them, in all, 50 railway stations across four States of South Central Railway (SCR) under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at Hyderabad Railway Station virtually on Sunday.
Modi, said,” India is moving towards the goal of development and is at the beginning of its golden age. There is new energy, new inspiration and new resolutions. It’s a beginning of a new chapter in the history of Indian Railways. Almost 1,300 prime railway stations in the country will now be redeveloped with modernity as Amrit Bharat Stations and will get a new lease of life.
Out of 1,300 stations, redevelopment works of around 508 railway stations commenced on Sunday. It would revolutionise the rail infrastructure and would boost ‘Ease of Living’ by enhancing comfort as well as convenience. Special care has also been taken to ensure the railway stations are in line with local culture, heritage, and architecture.”
He added that the government is working to make the rail journey accessible as well as pleasant to each and every citizen. He mentioned better seating on platforms, upgraded waiting rooms and free Wi-Fi on thousands of stations. The Prime Minister referred to the railway’s status as the lifeline of the country and said the identity of the cities is also linked with the railway stations which have become the heart of the city with the passing of time. This has made it imperative to provide a modern form to the stations.
“Improving passenger amenities is a major focus of the government. The Prime Minister is personally monitoring the progress of Railways from time to time and he has given excellent input in designing the stations,” Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan stated that Amrit Bharat Station Scheme would be helpful for the development of the State and useful for the general public. Railways are providing quality, secure, safe and economical travel to the public. The development of the Railways is the development of the common people of the country.
Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy stated that the Prime Minister’s vision is to develop rail infrastructure and network for making the journey safe and comfortable. Moreover, the Central Government is planning to construct a Ring Road Railway Line Project along with the Regional Ring Road as a pilot project which will be a role model for the development of urban and rural connectivity.
