‘Govt committed to providing poor quality healthcare’

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi government has succeeded in providing access to the best health services to the poor. This has been made possible with the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao accorded top priority to the health sector, according to Minister for Health T Harish Rao on Sunday.

The Minister was flagging off new ambulances here. Zilla Parishad Chairman Roja Sharam and District Medical and Health Officer Kasinath were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that the Chief Minister had introduced several schemes to ensure access to quality health to the people of all sections. To realise the objective of providing multi-speciality healthcare to the poor, the KCR embarked on a mission to set up one medical college in each district. The previous government had neglected the health sector and it had led to the suffering of people, particularly the poor. He appealed to the people in villages to make good use of the quality medical facilities being made available in Government Hospitals.

The new ambulances fitted with GPS devices will reach the caller’s destination within a few minutes. The Amma Vodi vehicles too were introduced for pregnant women and new mothers in villages.

Carnival atmosphere reigns at Half Marathon

Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Sunday flagged off Siddipet Half Marathon at the Government Degree College.

The Minister announced that the event would be held every year. He made the announcement as the event attracted an overwhelming response.

Harish Rao complimented Police Commissioner N Swetha for making Half Marathon a success. He praised T Srikanth, ran all the way from Secunderabad to Siddipet and thus motivated those who took part in the event.

Siddipet, which was developed in all spheres, was set to become a sports hub, the Minister said. A carnival atmosphere prevailed in the town. A cricket stadium of international standards and a swimming pool were built in the town, he said.The district administration distributed a sapling each to 400 participants as part of the Haritha Haram programme.

Harisha Rao praised the district administration making the event a success. Ramesh Chandra, who hailed from Nagarkurnool, completed the Half Marathon in 112 minutes, while M Chaudary, who came from Uttar Pradesh and Giyo Antony of Nagarkurnool district, came second and third respectively. The first three winders of 10K Run and 5K Run were presented with cash prize.
