Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj K Pawan Kalyan has hailed the verdict of Supreme Court to set up an independent SIT to investigate the use of adulterated ghee to make Laddu Prasadam of Tirumala shrine.
In a statement here on Friday Pawan Kalyan said that he welcomes the verdict of Supreme Court to order for a five-member independent Special Investigation Team to probe the adulterated ghee issue.
“In accordance with the orders of the Supreme Court, two officials from the CBI, two police officers of Andhra Pradesh State government and a senior official from the F.S.S.A.I will be part of the SIT to conduct an inquiry independently. The use of adulterated ghee to make Laddu Prasadam of Lord Venkateswra hurt the sentiments of devotees and it also caused worry to those who have faith in Sanatana Dharma,” the Deputy Chief Minister acknowledged. Pawan Kalyan stated that the opinion of devotees that the quality of Laddu Prasadam and Anna Prasadam declined during the erstwhile TTD board should be taken into consideration by the SIT.________________
Officials told to develop WG expeditiously

Minister Water Resources Development Nimmala Ramanaidu directed the district officials to evolve proper plans for the development of West Godavari district as part of “Swarndhara @ 2047” programme. A meeting was organized on the ‘Vision Plan 2029’ here on Friday for which district Collector, MLAs and other officials attended.
Minister Ramanaidu reviewed the development programme being carried out in the district. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that a vision plan should be evolved with the aim of achieving a better growth rate to keep the state at the top, and as a part of this, a comprehensive plan should be formulate to pave the way for the development of the district by collating the resources available in the district.
The officials were asked to prepare the best plan for the development of WG district by taking into account the main aspects of agriculture, aqua, coconut, tourism in the coastal area and temple tourism. Minister Ramanaidu cited that the major source in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia is coconut crop.
On the lines of Kodaikanal and Ooty, tourism centres should be developed in the district taking the advantage of the river Godavari and beaches. Ramanaidu underlined the need of encouraging temple tourism on par with the conventional tourism in the district, adding that hotels and restaurants should be set up which will help to generate employment.
The Minister also stressed the need of constructing roads for the development of the district. He also mentioned that drains should be modernized and better procedures should be introduced for purchase of paddy produce from the farmers. The government is contemplating to encourage the allied sectors of poultry and coconut in the district.
Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishnam Raru proposed for the establishment of an airport in West Godavari district to ensure achieving progress expeditiously. He lamented that plastic material and plastic bags constitute 20 percent of the silt removed from the irrigation canals which indicates how the plastic material inhibits flow of water in the irrigation canals in the district.
TP Gudem MLA B Srinivas highlighted that WG district has earned reputation for its abundance of aquaculture and agriculture but unfortunately the two sectors were damaged due to heavy rains and floods. He emphasized the need of extending a helping hand to the two sectors. Narasapuram ML B Nayakar also spoke.
