Narasimha Rao to persist with ‘GVL for Vizag’ campaign

Must read

BJP’s Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao has declared his unwavering commitment to the people of Visakhapatnam by announcing his determination to persist with the ‘GVL for Vizag’ campaign, despite not securing the ticket for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency. The coveted ticket for Visakhapatnam was instead granted to TDP candidate M Sribharat, the distinguished president of GITAM University and son-in-law of renowned actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. This decision emerged as part of the intricate seat-sharing arrangement among TDP, BJP, and JSP.
Breaking away from conventional norms, Narasimha Rao chose to convene a press conference at his residence in Pandurangapuram, rather than at the BJP office at Lawson’s Bay Colony in the city. During the conference, he expressed disappointment over BJP’s failure to secure the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat for the impending 2024 polls, attributing it to various factors, including familial lineage.
Highlighting BJP’s historical connection with Visakhapatnam, evidenced by its previous victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the 1982 mayoral election, Narasimha Rao underscored the disillusionment felt by numerous BJP supporters, leaders, and cadre following the allocation of the ticket to TDP. Despite his candid acknowledgment of his non-inclusion in the electoral fray, Narasimha Rao reiterated his steadfast commitment to the people of Visakhapatnam, whom he diligently served over the past three years through extensive tours and interactions across diverse segments of society.
