Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao held,at Pragathi Bhavan here on Wednesday, a high-level review on the distribution of double-bedroom houses in Hyderabad limits.

The MA&UD Minister said that, as against the target to construct one lakh 2BHK houses in the GHMC limits, 75,000 double-bedroom houses had been constructed.

Of these, nearly 4,500 houses had been handed over to in-situ beneficiaries. Nearly 70,000 houses, ready to be handed over to the beneficiaries, would be distributed in five to six phases.

The Minister mentioned that the first phase of the distribution of houses would begin within a week.

Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Md. Mahmood Ali, Ch Malla Reddy, and Deputy Speaker T Padma Rao Goud were present at the meeting. Along with the Ministers from the city, senior officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) also participated in the review.
The officials informed the Ministers that the construction of 70,000 homes was completed and that the units were ready for distribution.

The officials said that the process of handing over the houses to eligible beneficiaries wasprogressing at a brisk pace and the verification process of applicants who had submitted their applications was near completion.

Stating that the city public were eagerly awaiting the distribution of 2BHK houses, the Ministers gave some suggestions regarding distribution of the houses. The Ministers said that officials were identifying the beneficiaries by conducting field visits devoid of any political interference. The Ministers also discussed the identification of beneficiaries of Gruha Lakshmi Scheme and the need to expedite the scheme.
