Hyderabad District Election Officer (DEO) and GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose asked the representatives of political parties to cooperate so that the parliamentary elections are conducted transparently and smoothly. He held a meeting with representatives of political parties at the GHMC head office on Tuesday where he cleared their doubts.
Ronald Rose said, “The Election Commission of India is likely to issue a notification for the conduct of the parliamentary elections soon. We are ready in all ways to conduct the elections. The first level check up of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)s and VVPATs has been completed and 16 EVM demonstration centres are creating awareness on the use of the right to vote in GHMC head office as well as in the 15 constituencies.
“The final voter list was published on February 8, and according to it, there are 45,70,138 voters in the district, out of whom 23,30,574 are male voters, 22,39,240 female voters and 324 third gender voters. There are a total of 3,986 polling stations in the district. From January 23 to March 4, Form 6, 6A, 7, 8 were provided online and offline totalling 1,69,255 and 1,09,072 were processed, 1,02,294 were accepted and 6,778 were rejected.” He said that the details have been provided to the political parties.
He said that Form 6 will be received up to 10 days before the last date of nomination and voting can be done only if the name is in the voters list. Just having an EPIC card does not mean they can vote. Voters have to check whether the name is there in the voter list or not.

AIMIM party representative and Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin, BSP representative Kalyani Nandish, BJP representative VS Bharadwaj, Congress representative G Niranjan and BRS representative Vijay Kumar participated in the meeting.
