Following speculation of a recent death due to COVID-19 at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH), Superin tendent Dr D Nagendra clarified that the patient died due to respiratory issues and not because of the virus.
Addressing the issue, the Superintendent said, “A 62-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). He also suffered heart failure during the treatment which led to his demise.Ā Later, it was found that the patient was COVID-19 positive. There is no need to create panic.” Speaking of preparedness for COVID-19, Nagendra said, “A five-bed isolation ward equipped with essentials, including ICU has been established.
The hospital is prepared to tackle the virus with adequate supply of ventilators, oxygen, RT-PCR kits, and necessary medications to address the ongoing pandemic situation.”
