Kalyana Lakshmi scheme put on back burner

Must read

Beneficiaries of Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak have been eagerly awaiting disbursal of Rs 1,00,016 to the girls in poor families towards their wedding gift.
In the BRS regime, the guidelines were issued that the MLA will disburse the concerned cheques after the approval of the applications by authorities.
Even 20 days of new Congress regime coming to power, no decision was taken on the disbursement of the cheques. As such the beneficiaries are annoyed over the delay.
They have pinned hopes on the Congress government disbursing the cheques and also one tola of gold under the scheme as promised by the Congress in its manifesto.
As the Congress regime did not make any formal announcement in this regards, parents of the poor girls were left disappointed.
Under the scheme, thousands of have applied to get the financial assistance this year. The officials have completed subjecting the applications to scrutiny. As per the guidelines, the MLAs should approve the applications. Only then, the officials will prepare cheques for distribution by MLAs.
The election fever has set in Telangana since July last week. Therefore, many MLAs did not focus on the disbursal of incentives to support wedding of girls from poor families. The election schedule was issued on Oct 9 and polls were held on Nov 30. In the counting of votes held on Dec 3, Congress was declared securing majority to form the government.
But the new government is yet to take up the Kalyana Lakshmi/Shadi Mubarak issue.
The number of beneficiaries yet to receive benefits under the scheme is more in Malkajgiri constituency.
The then BRS government suspended implementation of all welfare schemes in the constituency as the former MLA Mynampalli Hanumanta Rao came out of the BRS before the elections. As he came out of the party, he did not bother to implement Kalyana Lakshmi/Shadi Mubarak and 2 BHK houses allotment issue as he focused on his political career coming out of the ruling party.
Because of the rivalry between the MLA and the BRS regime, the beneficiaries were subjected to problems.
The new MLA Marri Rajasekhara Reddy is also taking care of his own affairs than giving priority to the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, it is alleged.
Meanwhile, the revenue officials say that they are helpless in this regard unless the new regime issues fresh guidelines on the implementation of the scheme.
