Janasena party chief K Pawan Kalyan vehemently objected to the government’s move of banning road-shows and meetings on public places and roads by issuing a GO 1.
In a statement here on Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan asked Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy whether he could take out his marathon padayatra if the then government issued an order like GO 1 banning the road-shows and meetings on public places and roads.
The GO 1 was brought with an intention of muzzling the voice of Opposition parties. It is the responsibility of the Opposition party to expose and protest the anti-people policies of the government and stand by people, he said. “Restrictions were imposed on me that I should not wish people and I should not appear to the people from my car and I should not come out of my hotel room when I was in Visakhapatnam,” he lashed out.
“TDP chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was obstructed from visiting his Kuppam constituency today and I condemn the act of the government. This kind of act will pooh-pooh democracy.
It is the responsibility of Chandrababu Naidu to visit his constituency and it is improper to prevent him by passing GO 1,” Pawan Kalyan slammed.
Pawan Kalyan asked Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy whether the GO would also apply to him. He pointed out that the Chief Minister held a road-show in Rajahmundry by making people stand either side of the road and asked the police officials if it comes under the violation of GO 1. He asked all democrats to condemn the GO 1 as it would lead to an arbitrary system.
