PM to dedicate AIIMS-Mangalagiri to nation tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences,-Mangalagiri (AIIMS-Mangalagiri) on February 25. Alongside, he will lay the foundation stones for 9 Critical Care blocks, inaugurate the Microbiology Food Testing Laboratory in Visakhapatnam, and launch four mobile Food testing labs in Andhra Pradesh, stated Dr. Madhabananda Kar, Director & CEO of AIIMS Mangalagiri.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Dr Madhabananda Kar disclosed that AP Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Sh Prahalad Joshi, Union Minister of Coal, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Tribal Affairs Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers Prof SP Singh Baghel, and Vidadala Rajini, Minister of Health for the Government of AP, have confirmed their attendance at the event at AIIMS Mangalagiri.
He further revealed that the foundation stone for the AIIMS Mangalagiri project was laid by the former Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, JP Nadda, on December 19, 2015. The project, approved by the Union Cabinet, has an outlay of Rs 1618.23Cr and spans an area of 183.11 acres.
The project is now fully completed, featuring an Academic Complex (Medical College, Medical Lab & Nursing College), a hospital with OPD, IPD, and Emergency facilities, Residential blocks, Hostel blocks, a Guest house, Library & administrative Blocks, Dharamshala Building, AYUSH block, and an Auditorium. The IPD block is operational, and 41 broad & super speciality departments are functional, he noted.
The Outpatient Department has been operational since March 2019, with an average footfall of around 2500 patients per day. As of February 20, AIIMS Mangalagiri has conducted over 15,00,000 outpatient consultations, including treatments for 20,000 inpatients and 12,000 emergency cases. Currently, eight MOTs and five Minor OTs are operational, and over 7,200 major and minor surgeries have been performed across various surgical departments, including Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, and Urology.

Dr. Kar highlighted the functional facilities including Dialysis, Advanced Blood Bank, State-level VRDL facility, Trace element & molecular biology lab, Advanced robotic physiotherapy facility, endoscopy, 2D-ECHO, Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulator (RTMS), intrauterine Insemination, Audiometry and vestibular function Lab, EEG, nerve conduction studies, Spirometry, and Uroflowmetry services.
Col Shashikanth Thumma, Deputy Director (Administration), Dr Vineet Thomas Abraham, Medical Superintendent, Dr K Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Spokesperson of the Media Cell, and others were present at the briefing.
