Assures water to every acre in north Andhra through ‘Sujala Sravanthi’
Says he’s committed to saving Vizag Steel Plant from privatisation
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu stated that the completion of the Sujala Sravanthi project would ensure irrigation water for every acre in the North Andhra region. During a visit to the left bank canal of the Polavaram project at Darlapudi in the Anakapalle district, he announced that tenders would soon be called to commence the left bank canal works. “Initially, irrigation water will be supplied to 2.2 lakh acres by completing the works in the first phase with Rs 800 crore. If the Krishna, Godavari, Pennar, and Vamsadhara rivers are interlinked, the State will never face any drought situation,” the CM said.
Expressing his commitment to the welfare of the people, Naidu criticized the previous government for leaving the State bankrupt. He highlighted the closure of three sugar mills due to their inefficiency and promised to support sugarcane farmers.
The Chief Minister urged officials to eliminate corporate culture and criticized the lack of progress on the Sujala Sravanthi works during the previous government’s tenure, noting that only the works completed under the earlier TDP administration had advanced. Naidu, who received a warm welcome from local Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and other party leaders upon his arrival in North Andhra for the first time since assuming office for the fourth time, also visited a photo exhibition.
“I have a bounden responsibility to repay the trust of the people who voted for me. The people of North Andhra are next to the people of the Godavari districts in showing their affection towards me. I am here to fulfil my debt to you and, with the strength given to me by the Almighty, I will develop the State in all sectors,” an emotional Naidu told the crowd.
Addressing rumours about the Visakha Steel Plant, Naidu assured that he is dedicated to safeguarding it. He accused a particular party of spreading false stories about his alleged agreement to sell the plant. Recalling his firm resistance to privatization proposals in the past, he declared, “Visakha Vukku is Andhrula Hakku (Visakha steel is the right of Andhras).”
The Chief Minister promised the swift implementation of the “Super-Six” promises and assured that the State Government will support every family. “We have not even completed 30 days in power, but we have already distributed the revised pension, increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, along with arrears,” he said.
Describing his initiatives as historic, Naidu highlighted his first signature on the Mega DSC to fill 16,347 vacant teacher posts and the repeal of the Land Titling Act, which he claimed was aimed at grabbing lands from innocent people. “Additionally, we are going to relaunch 183 Anna Canteens on August 15,” he announced.
Naidu criticized an unnamed “evil force” for attempting to undermine positive developments for the people, urging citizens to permanently eliminate such negativity. He announced the upcoming launch of a skill census to identify and enhance the talents of the youth for better employment opportunities, asserting that Andhra Pradesh will soon achieve the number one position in the country. “We will certainly find ways to increase the revenue of every section of people in the State,” he pledged, promising that every rupee would be spent for the welfare of the people.
