Minister for Irrigation Ambati Rambabu defended the deployment of police forces to the Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) to release 2000 cusecs of water to the Right Canal, asserting that it is a police action and not an invasion. The minister emphasised that the operation was conducted solely to safeguard the State’s water rights.
Speaking to the media in Sattenapalli on Saturday, Rambabu questioned the move characterisation of the police action as an invasion, pointing out that it was a legitimate move by the State to utilise its share of water from the NSP.
Dismissing allegations that the police action was a staged drama, he clarified that it was a concerted effort to secure the State’s rightful water share. Rambabu commended Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy as a courageous leader and labeled Chandrababu Naidu a traitor for ceding water control to Telangana state.
Strongly objecting to media houses for disseminating misleading information about the NSP episode, Rambabu criticised both Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan for their silence on the incident. He urged the leaders to prioritise the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
The Minister criticised the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), accusing it of hypocrisy for supporting the Congress in the recent Telangana election despite being launched against it.
Rambabu also took a swipe at Pawan Kalyan, alleging that he was behaving like a mentally challenged individual and was unfit for full-time politics. Describing the TDP-Jana Sena Party alliance as unethical, he criticized the inclusion of BJP state president D Purandeswari in their ranks. Guntur Mirchi yard chairman Nimmikayala Rajanarayana and other leaders were present.
