Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has proposed the constitution to focus on the welfare of Gulf workers. The committee, he suggested, may comprises of MLAs, MLCs and other leaders to take up the issues being faced by the Gulf migrant workers from the state. Â
On the orders of Chief Minister a Revanth Reddy on the measures to be taken for the welfare of the Gulf workers, the meeting was chaired by the Transport and BC Welfare Minister. At the meeting, the Minister urged the government to release the Government Order (GO) by establishing an advisory committee. Government Whip Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas and TPCC NRI Cell Vinod discussed five issues related to Gulf workers.
The Minister suggested that Pravasi Prajavani should be organised for Gulf workers every Tuesday and Friday at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad. Ponnam Prabhakar said that a special counter for the Gulf workers’ grievances will be opened on September 20.
He assured that steps will be taken to give 100 percent admission to the children of Gulf workers in Gurukula schools and colleges who want to study in Gurukul. He said that he will bring to the notice of the government that Rs 5 lakh ex gratia payment to the families of the workers who died in the Gulf countries from  December 7, 2023.
The NRI cell has suggested giving an ex gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the families of those who have died in the past on a humanitarian basis.
It is suggested that there may be Gulf Bhima like Rythu Bhima. Many MLAs said that the workers in Singapore and Malaysia are facing difficulties in recent times. TPCC NRI convenor said that in the 1982 Immigration Act, there will be 18 countries in the Gulf countries, in which countries like Singapore will also come under the Gulf.
