Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Society for the Elimination of Rural Poverty, and NRI Empowerment and Relations, Kondapalli Srinivas, has instructed officials to begin the process of providing social security pensions to all eligible individuals in the state. Many eligible persons are eagerly awaiting these new pensions, he stated, emphasising the need to bring them under the social security scheme.
Minister Srinivas held a review meeting with the Society for the Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) in his chamber at the Secretariat on Monday. During the meeting, he noted that the state government, under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, is committed to providing pensions to all eligible individuals. He added that those who were removed from the pension list under the previous government would soon receive the new social security pensions.
He further recalled that during the TDP’s regime in 1995, Chandrababu Naidu initiated the DWACRA groups in the state. After implementing several reforms, the District Poverty Evaluation Project (DPEP) was transformed into SERP. The department is set to celebrate its Silver Jubilee next year, he mentioned, and at this juncture, the government aims to strengthen SERP to enhance its effectiveness.
