Actor, director, and producer Raghava Lawrence has once again proven why he’s as admired off-screen as he is on it. In a heartwarming gesture, Lawrence has stepped in to help a farm labourer’s family who lost their lifetime savings to an unexpected misfortune—termites.
The heartbreaking incident was recently reported on television channels: a poor family had been storing their hard-earned savings—around Rs 1 lakh—in a box buried underground. To their dismay, they discovered that termites had completely destroyed the currency they had painstakingly saved over the years.
Deeply moved by the family’s plight, Lawrence took swift action. Learning of the story through the media, he decided to compensate the family for their loss.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“Hi Everyone, I came across the news that a coolie family lost one lakh of their many years of savings due to termites. My heart sank thinking about what they must’ve gone through. So, I’m happy to contribute the lost money for them. Thanks to the media and people involved in reaching this news to me. #Maatram #Serviceisgod.”
The actor also shared a touching video in which he personally delivers the Rs 1 lakh to the family, presenting it in a box—mirroring the original form in which the money was stored.
Lawrence, widely known for his philanthropic efforts, earned widespread praise not just for this kind gesture but also for his humble values. In 2023, he made headlines for urging fans not to attend his film events, stating that he did not want to encroach on their personal time and responsibilities.
