Ranji: Armann Jaffer’s unbeaten century gives Mumbai lead

One-down batsman Armaan Jaffer’s unbeaten century (116) helped the Mumbai Ranji team take the first-innings lead against Andhra by 52 runs. The first Ranji match between Andhra and Mumbai in the Elite-B Group is being conducted at the Dr PVG Raju ACA Sports Complex, in Vizianagaram.

On the first day of the match, Andhra scored 238/10, and on Wednesday, the second day of the match, the Mumbai team scored 290/6 in 103 overs at the end of the day.

The Mumbai team continued its first innings with an overnight score of 25 runs for a loss of one wicket. One-down batsman Armaan Jaffer batted well and scored 116 runs in 267 balls, 16 boundaries, and one sixer. Also, Yashasvi Jaiswal (45 runs (98b, 4×6, 6×2), Ajinkya Rahane 44 runs (104b, 4×6), and Tanush Kotian 43 (not out) helped the team score.

However, the Mumbai team lost its important wickets, Armaan Jaffer stood at the stumps and faced Andhra bowlers. On the first day, Mumbai lost its opener Prithvi Shaw’s wicket, and on the second day, after starting the match, Mumbai lost another opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket, when the team score was 95. Later, Ajinkya Rahane, SN Khan’s wickets lost in just 10 runs. After losing the sixth wicket, Armaan joined Tanush Kotian and batted well and stood his team in a comfortable position.

On the other hand, Andhra’s bowler Sasikanth bowled well and took 3 for 50 runs, and Shoaib Md Khan took 2 for 58 runs restricting the Mumbai team for not making a big score.
