A rare laparoscopic surgery was done for Urinary Bladder Cancer successfully, giving a new lease of life to a 75-year-old patient at Andhra Hospital.
A lady, the resident of Vuyyuru, was suffering from severe urinary symptoms for 2 months. She visited the hospital in Early November and was diagnosed to have Large Growth in the urinary bladder. A biopsy was done and she was diagnosed to have a rare bladder tumor called Urachal Adenocarcinoma which was very rare.
The Doctors have successfully performed a Laparoscopic Partial Cystectomy surgery and bilateral Pelvic Lymph Node dissection. Surgery was performed by Chief Urologist Dr Koushik Amancharla along with a team of medical experts at Andhra Hospital.
This surgery is a challenge owing to the complexity of cancer & its unusual location in the dome of the urinary bladder. The highly sophisticated Laparoscopic surgery gave clear advantage to patients of having the least pain and gave complete cancer clearance.
Andhra Hospitals is an apex centre for laparoscopic surgeries and has been performing complex surgeries in minimally invasive techniques.
For us writing about rare conditions is all about educating people- Caregivers, Scientists, Patients & Family members. Dr PV Ramana Murthy, Managing Director, Andhra Hospitals addressed the media persons on Thursday.
