Real estate development is the key to the progress of States, with cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru being prime examples of growth driven by the real estate sector. Over the past five years, the real estate sector in the State has been in a slump. Only with the growth of the construction and real estate industry can the State make progress. To revive the real estate sector, the government has made building construction, layout permits and issuance of building approvals easier, said Minister P Narayana in his address at the inaugural ceremony of the CREDAI Property Show.
The three-day property show was attended by Minister Kollu Ravindra and MLAs Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, Bode Prasad, Gadde Ram Mohan, along with MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni). The dignitaries launched the PVR Group brochure together.
Speaking at the event, Minister Narayana thanked the government for simplifying the process of building approvals and layout permits, following a study of best practices in 10 States across the country. He also highlighted reforms such as reducing road width requirements for layouts from 12 metres to nine metres and transferring responsibility for buildings under 15 metres to licensed surveyors without the need for permission. He mentioned that a single-window system will be introduced to avoid bureaucratic delays for building permits. Narayana expressed confidence that in the coming days, the real estate sector will see rapid growth in Vijayawada, Amaravati, and across the State.
MP Sivanath praised CREDAI for organising the property show, making it accessible to the middle class. He attributed the growth of real estate in Hyderabad to the efforts of former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He recalled how, before 1995, the real estate sector in Hyderabad was underdeveloped, and it was the growth of IT and pharma industries that led to the real estate boom in the city. He emphasised that it was the development of infrastructure that contributed to both business and construction sectors’ growth.
He also pointed out that after the State bifurcation, it was Chandrababu Naidu who laid the foundation for the State’s development. In contrast, the previous government had a damaging effect on the construction industry. As a result, real estate has stagnated in the State over the last five years. Due to the lack of construction activities, workers in the industry have faced severe hardships, he noted. He added that under Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, efforts are being made to revive the real estate sector.
Along with Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, MP Keshineni Sivanath also proposed the establishment of the National Academy of Construction (NAC) for construction workers to the Chief Minister.
The event was also attended by CREDAI representatives G Ramireddy, Alla Shivareddy, YV Ramana Rao, Dasari Rambabu, Ramesh Ankineni and others.
