Reacting to the question raised by BRS MLAs KP Vivekanand, Arekapudi Gandhi and Devireddy Sudheer Reddy on the number of works taken up under the strategic road development programme in GHMC limits, the number of works completed so far, the progress of remaining works, the time by which the works will be completed and the funds being spent and their details, KTR said the government is ready to solve the traffic problems of Hyderabad but the Defence Ministry is not cooperating.

The Centre is not said to be willing even though the State has been requesting the Centre for the last seven and a half years. He said the State government has been trying hard to solve Hyderabad traffic problems.

He said the State government has been examining the issue of passing a rule regarding the removal of religious structures on roads, which have become a hurdle to road widening. He said that they are examining the Act passed by the Gujarat government regarding this.

Will protect Singareni, set up Bayyaram: KTR

Industries Minister KT Ramarao accused the Centre of conspiring to privatize the Singareni Collieries. He made it clear that they will defeat the Centre’s conspiracy and if necessary, they will join hands with Singareni workers as well as other political parties to stop the move. KTR said that he is ready to fight anyone to “save Singareni.” Responding to a question in the Assembly on Thursday by BRS Members Balka Suman, Korukanti Chander and Pilot Rohit Reddy about measures being taken by the government to increase revenue from mining after the formation of Telangana State, KTR said during Question Hour that the Centre has been trying to hand over Singareni to its cronies. He said that the Centre has been showering love on Gujarat in the allocation of mines and discriminating against Telangana. He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi and Union Ministers regarding the Singareni coal mines. The letter said that four coal mines should be given to the State. But KTR said the Centre has said the four coal mines are being auctioned. “We are giving a word to all the workers of Singareni that we will do whatever is needed to defeat the Centre’s conspiracy to privatise Singareni,” he said.

KTR said that Telangana’s sand policy is being followed as an example by other states as the United AP had logged a revenue of Rs 39.40 crore from 2004 to 2014 from sand.

During the Congress regime, it did not get even Rs 4 crore per year. During the BRS government, the state has been getting Rs 800 crore per year from sand mining.

KTR said the Centre has been spreading lies against the opposition on the Bayyaram Steel Plant.

He said that the Centre has gone back on its word regarding Bayyaram Steel Plant. The Centre has been spreading the lie that there is no quality in the raw steel. “We will try to set up a steel plant at Bayyaram through private companies or through Singareni,” he said.
