Polling in Telangana and AP on March 13

The EC released the schedule for MLC elections in AP and Telangana. The Election Commission of India released the notification for MLC elections in the two Telugu states on Thursday. The elections would be held for Teachers Constituency MLC, Graduates Constituency MLC and vacant Local Bodies MLC positions.
The notification would be released on February 16 and the last date for the acceptance of nominations is February 23. The scrutiny will be held on February 24 and the last date for the withdrawal of nominations is February 27.
Polling will be held on March 13 and counting will be held on March 16.
The notification was issued in the background of the tenures of the Hyderabad Local Bodies MLC Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri and the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahbunagar Teachers constituency MLC Katepally Janardhan Reddy ending.
In AP, there are three Graduate MLCs, two Teachers and eight Local Bodies (total 13) MLCs and in Telangana, one Teachers’ MLC and one Local Bodies MLC. The current MLCs tenure will end on March 29.
In Telangana, the Teachers MLC election will be held for the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar MLC constituency and the Hyderabad Local Bodies MLC constituency.
