Resume last TDP govt’s policies

Must read

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to reintroduce the best practices and policies from the previous TDP government (2014-2019) in the Health, Medical, and Family Welfare Department. During a review meeting at the secretariat, Naidu emphasised the need to restore public confidence in government hospitals, which he claimed had been eroded under the previous YSRCP government due to mismanagement and chaotic policies.
Naidu outlined several initiatives to improve healthcare in the state. He instructed officials to create a government app to track patient details in private hospitals, including the medical services, equipment, and medicines provided. The Chief Minister also called for a detailed study of water sources in areas with high incidences of kidney disease, as well as a mandal-wise enumeration of kidney and tuberculosis (TB) patients to ensure continuous medication supply.
Furthermore, Naidu directed that computed tomography (CT) scanning facilities be established in all district hospitals to make them accessible to the poor.
He also stressed the importance of telemedicine services, referencing the previous TDP government’s success in securing Rs 2,300 crore from the World Bank for such services. Naidu criticized the YSRCP government for failing to implement this initiative effectively and reiterated the need for corporate-level medical services to be made available to rural areas through telemedicine.
In addition to healthcare, the Chief Minister reviewed the draft of the new Industrial Development Policy 2024-29. He urged officials to design a policy that would position Andhra Pradesh among the top five states in the country in terms of industrial development. Naidu highlighted the state’s strategic advantages, including its 10 seaports, 10 airports, and robust road and rail connectivity, particularly in the East Coast region. He emphasized the need for cost-effective, large-scale industrial setups in sectors such as green energy, green hydrogen, electric vehicle manufacturing, and food processing.
Naidu also reminded officials of past successes in attracting major companies like Hero Motors and Apollo Tyres to Andhra Pradesh, and he called for concerted efforts to bring new industries to the state. He mentioned that he would meet with industrialists on the 16th of this month to discuss further strategies.
The Chief Minister concluded by stressing the importance of adhering to NITI Aayog’s guidelines in crafting the new industrial policy and ensuring a growth rate of over 15 per cent.
