CM briefs WB team about progress in Amaravati project

A delegation from the World Bank met with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday at the Secretariat to discuss the ongoing construction of the new capital, Amaravati. The meeting was attended by Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Ponguru Narayana, and CRDA Commissioner, Katamaneni Bhaskar.
The four-member World Bank team, which includes Infrastructure Senior Specialist Raghu Keshavan, Lead Transport Specialist Gerald Paul Olivier, Senior Urban Specialist King Yun Shen, and South Asia Urban Practice Manager Abedalirazak F Khalil, has been touring Amaravati for the past two days.
The delegation arrived in Vijayawada on Saturday for a three-day visit.
During their visit, the World Bank team held meetings with officials at the Vijayawada CRDA headquarters, where they were briefed on the current status of the Amaravati project. The delegation also conducted field inspections of buildings under construction in Amaravati and assessed ongoing infrastructure works, including roads, the Kondaveeti Vagu pump house, and the development of educational institutions such as VIT, SRM, and AIIMS.
During the meeting on Monday, CM Naidu provided an overview of the progress made in Amaravati’s construction, emphasising the use of world-class standards and modern technology to develop the capital into a globally recognised city.
