Rly Divn earns Rs 1363 cr in last quarter

The Vijayawada Railway Division has earned a gross revenue of Rs 1363.33 crore from October to December 2022 as against Rs 854.05 crore for the corresponding period of last year, which is 60% more. Similarly, the gross revenue from April to December 2022-23 is Rs 3,980.35 crore as against Rs 2322.37 crore for the corresponding period of last year, which is 71.4% more.

In the Current Financial year up to December, the division registered 45.19 million originating passengers, a growth of 135 % when compared to last year’s corresponding period. The earnings on the passenger front, in the current financial year up to December, was Rs 907.57 Cr which is 79.77% more than the corresponding period of the last year.

The freight loading in Vijayawada Division was 25.784 MT up to December 2022, which is 63.82 % higher than last year’s loading of 15.739 MT. Freight earnings have shown remarkable growth and were recorded as Rs 2996 Cr up to December in this current financial year which is a 73.84% increase over the corresponding period of Last year.

Vijayawada Division has awarded through e-tender for the first time in SCR a contract for the development of ‘Gati Shakti Terminal’ fully on Railway Land at Bikkavolu with an estimated cost of construction of Rs 15.24 crore and with a revenue share of 15% in TC/TAC to be retained by Railways for a period of 35 years to M/s Grasim Industries Ltd.

As a result of consistent Business Development Units efforts, a total of 211 rakes of new streams of traffic including Iron Ore, Timber Waste, Maize, Laterite, Fly Ash Bricks, Wheat, Fish Feed, Edible Oil, etc. fetching revenue of Rs.62 Cr have been captured for the first time or recaptured the traffic lost to the road. Niduguntapalem Goods Shed was re-opened on the KRCL line between Krishnapatnam and Obulavaripalli and the first rake was loaded on September 20, 2022.

Iron Ore loading started at Krishnapatnam Port and so far, 74 Rakes were loaded earning revenue of Rs.27.42 crore one rake with crude sunflower oil loaded in BTPN wagons from Krishnapatnam Port to Kandla Port with tonnage of 0.003 MTs. 35 rakes of Wheat have been loaded so far from Kakinada Port to various destinations, fetching revenue of Rs.11.96 crore.
