Rs 6.63 cr credited to farmers’ accounts under ‘Sunna Vaddi’

NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao has assured farmers that the State government will be supporting them right from seed distribution to the sale of crops, and will be providing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to every farmer.

He distributed cheques of Rs. 6,63,17,000 to farmers under the ‘Sunna Vaddi’ scheme and input subsidy of Rs. 55.08 lakh, at the collectorate in Vijayawada on Monday.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directly credited the ‘Sunna Vaddi’ on crop loans, and input subsidies for Kharif–2021 and Rabi-2020-21 into the farmers’ bank accounts during a video conference from the CM’s camp office in Tadepalli in Guntur district. NTR District Collector Dilli Rao, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Mayor Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi and others attended the video conference.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Dilli Rao said that these input subsidies and ‘Sunna Vaddi’ would be credited to the respective farmer-beneficiaries. More than 25,928 farmers have got Rs.6,63,17,000 as ‘Sunna Vaddi’, and 674 farmers got Rs.55.08 lakh as input subsidies, he said. The beneficiaries’ names should be displayed at all the YSR Rythu Bharosa Kendras in the district, he added.

He further said that the State government had decided to provide compensation for crop losses caused by natural disasters in the same year they occur.

The amount will be credited to the farmers’ bank accounts in the same year. About 33 per cent of crops such as cotton, black gram, green gram and maize were damaged during the floods in August, September and October. Based on the primary report, 674 farmers have lost their crops and are getting input subsidies, he said.

MLA Malladi Vishnu said that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was the only Chief Minister who was implementing his promises of releasing compensation for crop damage in the same year.

VMC Deputy Mayors Avuthu Sri Sailaja and Bellam Durga, Viswabrahmana Corporation Chairman T Srikanth, Gowda Corporation Chairman Madu Sivaramakrishna, Krishna District Grandhalaya Samstha Chairperson T Jama Purnammma and NTR District Agricultural Officer M Vijaya Bharathi were present on the occasion.
