Rs 79 cr in cybercriminals’ accounts frozen: Kadapa SP

The YSR district police have taken stringent steps to check cybercrimes during the year 2022 and fronted bank accounts of cybercriminals.

SP KKN Anburajan told the media that Rs 79,13,38,133 was frozen in the bank accounts of cybercriminals and sent the details to the Enforcement Directorate officials. He said that several cybercriminals were arrested during the year 2022.

The police also arrested 14 loan app, investment app and Bhima lottery organisers belonging to Rajasthan, UP, Delhi and Telangana states and also arrested 8 persons for cooperating with them and seized Rs 19,03,196.

The police received 1554 complaints through the National Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) portal of which 1400 complaints had been resolved and 154 are under investigation, the SP said. SP Anburajan said that a special missing mobile tracking system was initiated to trace the lost mobile phones. Those who lost their mobile phones could complain though the website. The SP cautioned people to be careful and vigilant about cyber criminals. He said that during the year 2022, under the IT Act, 81 cases were registered of which 58 cases were cracked and 23 cases are under investigation. The SP asked the victims to complain to 1930 or 100 above the loan app organisers harassment.
