Tension prevailed here as former sarpanches tried to force their way into the Collectorate during a protest here on Monday. The former sarpanches staged a protest in front of the Collectorate demanding that the State government clear their long-pending bills.
A protest organised by the Former Sarpanches’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Rajanna Sircilla district. The protest turned chaotic as they attempted to storm the Collectorate. The former Sarpanches sat in front of the main gate of the District Collectorate, demanding immediate release of their pending bills. They tried to force their way into the Collectorate.
In response, additional police forces, specially deployed around the Collectorate, prevented them from entering. Subsequently, the police took the former sarpanches into custody and ferried them to the police station in vans.
Later, the District Collector, Sandeep Kumar Jha, met JAC president Karunakar who submitted a memorandum.
