To ensure the safety of passengers, South Central Railway (SCR) has launched an intensive checking of trains against any inflammable items being carried and to prevent passengers from indulging in fire-related activities on the trains. The zone started the fire safety drive on November 17, 2023, which will end on January 15, 2024.
Accordingly, the zone will continue to conduct extensive checks in trains and railway stations against the carriage of inflammable items. Awareness campaigns are also being carried out to educate the public and rail users on the consequences of indulging in fire-related activities at railway premises.
SCR has launched the drive duly involving the staff from the Railway Protection Force and Commercial Branches to conduct checks to prevent and also caution the passengers against such practices in the interest of safety. In this connection, the passengers are advised to desist from practices such as the lighting of incense sticks, burning camphor or carrying inflammables, in trains and stations which may result in fire hazards endangering the safety of passengers. Lighting fire in any form in trains or other railway premises is strictly prohibited.
As part of the awareness programmes, regular public announcements are being made at railway stations. In addition, audio or video clips are being displayed on screen at stations regarding the prohibition of carrying inflammables.
