Seminar promotes UTS app, digital transactions in ticketing

The Commercial Department of the South Central Railway conducted a seminar on ‘Passenger Business’ with a focus on proliferating the adoption of the UTS mobile app and digital transactions in ticketing, on Friday.
K Sambasiva Rao, CCM, PM, said that the South Central Railway is currently in second position among all the zones in the country in the usage of UTS on mobile apps. He said that the current share of UTS on mobile tickets across the zone is 3.41 per cent and the share of ATVM is 33.79 per cent of the total unreserved tickets issued by the zone. He congratulated the staff of the Vijayawada division for achieving a 3.3 per cent share of total unreserved tickets through the UTS app and a 26 per cent share of the total unreserved tickets through ATVMs for the financial year 2023-24(April to Jan).
Sambasiva Rao detailed enhancing the adoption of the UTS mobile app among the passengers and steps to be taken to increase the utilisation of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) available at major stations.
He stressed the need to increase the share of digital payments through PoS machines using debit/credit cards and UPI in ticketing.
Rambabu Vavilapalli, Sr Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division, in his address, highlighted the need to leverage technology and proliferate easy methods of ticketing such as UTS app and ATVMs at stations by taking up public awareness campaigns. He shared that the total passenger earnings for February is Rs.109.17 crore including Rs.23.69 crore from UTS. The Division carried 5.01 million passengers in February. He advised the staff to focus on increasing the percentage of UTS tickets in total tickets purchased across the Division by popularising the app among passengers through intense awareness drives.
A large number of Railway Commercial Department staff in the cadre of booking supervisors, commercial inspectors, ticket inspectors and reservation supervisors from Vijayawada Division attended the seminar and shared their views and suggestions on further improving the Passenger Business with a focus on enhancing the adoption of digital modes of ticketing.
